Journalism students document Antidote festival

UTS and Macleay College students explore Antidote

The Judith Neilson Institute was the major event partner for the 2019 Antidote festival at the Sydney Opera House. The event explored global threats to democracy and the challenges facing journalists, throughout the world.

The Institute invited journalism students from UTS and Macleay College to attend the festival, interview some of the key speakers and make a short documentary about their experiences.

The student delivered two compelling documentaries, each with their own narrative.

Macleay students’ video

Journalism students from Macleay College focused on the issues affecting contemporary journalism,  including press freedom, the evolving media landscape and responsible reporting on climate change .

UTS students’ video

The second video examined the festival and its ideas from from the perspective of a UTS journalism student who attended.
